Zyra Champion Overview and Support Guide
Learn when Zyra fits a draft, how her plants and roots control lanes and objectives, and what engage angles can punish her immobility.

Zyra Counter Strategy & Strategy (Patch 16.11)
When to Counter Zyra
Pick Zyra when your team wants bot lane priority, objective control, and a support that punishes enemies for walking through narrow spaces. She is especially effective into shorter-range lanes and team comps that struggle to clear plants or survive repeated poke before fights begin. Zyra also fits drafts that already have engage and want the support slot to add damage and zone pressure rather than pure peel.
How to Counter Zyra Strategy
Do not drift through seed-heavy choke points or brush without respecting how quickly Zyra can turn one root into a full damage zone. Hard engages from clean angles are stronger than slow walk-ups, because she is far less comfortable when forced to cast defensively. Clearing vision and avoiding grouped movement near objectives also lowers the value of her ultimate and plant spread.
Zyra Targeted Build Strategy
Knowing Zyra's ideal items helps you build optimal counters.
Zyra Key Weaknesses
Zyra is immobile and relatively fragile, so once opponents reach her, she struggles to reposition or escape without support. Much of her control also depends on pre-placed seeds and space management, which makes sudden fights more awkward for her.
Worst Matchups for Zyra
Blitzcrank, Nautilus, Pyke, Xerath, and Leona consistently make Zyra's game harder by either forcing direct all-ins or contesting her range without respecting her plants. These matchups deny the slow, space-controlled trades that normally let her dominate lane.
Best Champions Against Zyra
Caitlyn, Ashe, Jhin, Varus, and Miss Fortune pair beautifully with Zyra because her roots and ultimate hold enemies in place for layered long-range damage. Their follow-up turns every successful catch into a far more punishing trade or kill.
Zyra Counter Tips & Summary
Zyra is a control mage support who wins through plant zones, root catches, and constant pressure in choke points and lane brushes. She offers excellent poke and area denial, but her lack of mobility makes her vulnerable when enemies break through her setup.
