When to Counter Yone
Pick Yone when the enemy team lacks dependable point-and-click control and your draft can benefit from a carry who threatens both split pressure and backline access. He is especially effective in games with frequent side skirmishes and enough chaos for him to find flanks or return safely from soul-bound entries. Yone also fits comps that want a melee carry with more self-starting engage than Yasuo.
How to Counter Yone Strategy
Do not overreact to Yone's first movement if his spirit return still gives him a safe exit afterward. Saving hard crowd control for the moment he fully commits or lands out of his forward entry is far more effective than firing it while he still has flexibility. Spacing away from grouped knockup angles also lowers the value of his strongest teamfight starts.

Yone has to move forward to threaten fights, which means his access pattern gives opponents real windows to punish after the initial engage. He also relies on uptime and tempo rather than one instant burst, so broken contact and layered peel reduce much of his threat.

Lissandra, Malzahar, Poppy, Renekton, and Vex consistently make Yone's job harder by locking him down or punishing the path he takes into fights. These matchups attack the commitment built into his engage and side-lane pressure.
