Vex Counter Strategy & Strategy (Patch 16.11)
When to Counter Vex
Pick Vex when the enemy team relies on mobile champions, diving carries, or skirmishers that naturally trigger her fear and passive value. She fits compositions that want a mid laner capable of both controlling entries and following kills into a fight. Vex also makes sense when your team needs stronger anti-assassin insurance without sacrificing burst threat.
How to Counter Vex Strategy
Do not gift Vex easy passive value through careless dashes or predictable entries into her front arc. Long-range pressure and wave control matter because she is much more threatening once fights move into her effective burst range. After she misses or expends her first fear window, there is usually a better opportunity to force than before.
Vex Targeted Build Strategy
Knowing Vex's ideal items helps you build optimal counters.
Vex Key Weaknesses
Vex depends on controlling the first contact of a fight, so longer-range poke and careful pacing can reduce how often she gets that clean fear moment. She also has limited mobility, which makes her punishable when forced to step forward without passive protection.
Worst Matchups for Vex
Xerath, Azir, Syndra, Viktor, and Vel'Koz consistently make Vex's job harder by keeping her at arm's length and denying the short-range skirmish patterns she prefers. These matchups attack her range limits rather than her burst directly.
Best Champions Against Vex
Jarvan IV, Nocturne, Vi, Rell, and Kai'Sa pair well with Vex because they either start the fight for her or instantly capitalize when she lands fear and dive resets. Their engage creates the unstable fights where she can chain momentum.
Vex Counter Tips & Summary
Vex is a burst mage who punishes dashes, controls short-to-mid-range fights, and snowballs skirmishes through reset-based ultimate entries. She offers excellent anti-dive value and pick threat, but her lane and teamfight pattern become harder when longer-range mages keep her outside comfortable cast distance.
