Talon Counter Strategy & Strategy (Patch 16.11)

When to Counter Talon

Pick Talon when the enemy team has vulnerable side lanes, limited coordinated peel, or backliners that cannot safely farm without vision support. He thrives in drafts that want tempo through roams, river fights, and map splits rather than slow front-to-back teamfights. Talon also makes sense when your team already has enough stable damage and needs someone to punish poor positioning first.

How to Counter Talon Strategy

Shove waves into Talon and track his exits early, because the most important part of playing against him is stopping him from leaving lane on good timings. Deep vision on jungle entries and river walls matters more against him than late reaction warding after he is already missing. In teamfights, grouping with peel and denying flank paths makes his burst pattern much less reliable.

Talon Targeted Build Strategy

Knowing Talon's ideal items helps you build optimal counters.

Talon Key Weaknesses

Talon relies on finding space between lane states and terrain to create picks, so tight vision control and good communication cut into a huge part of his value. He also offers little in drawn-out front-to-back fights, where repeated peel and durable targets blunt his fast-entry style.

Worst Matchups for Talon

Malzahar, Lissandra, Galio, Pantheon, and Renekton consistently make Talon's game harder by surviving or interrupting his burst windows and keeping him from roaming freely. These matchups force him into direct, controlled interactions that do not suit his strengths.

Best Champions Against Talon

Nocturne, Twisted Fate, Pyke, Elise, and Rakan pair well with Talon because they reinforce his pick pressure and quickly collapse when he finds an angle. Their follow-up turns his brief windows of access into cleaner kills and faster map snowballs.

Talon Counter Tips & Summary

Talon is a roaming assassin who wins through lane exits, wall-hopping map pressure, and fast burst on exposed targets before fights fully form. He offers strong pick threat and side-lane punishment, but he becomes less effective when opponents deny roam windows and refuse isolated mistakes.
