Kassadin is an anti-mage assassin-scaler who survives difficult early lanes, then takes over side lanes and backline access with repeated Riftwalk jumps and burst rotations. He becomes increasingly oppressive as fights stretch and mobility opens angles, but his early vulnerability and mana demands make poor patience especially punishing.

Good Kassadin players manage Riftwalk stacks without stranding their mana pool, hold Null Sphere or Force Pulse for the spell timing that actually secures the trade, and choose entries that preserve an exit rather than blinking into the center for one target. Weak Kassadin play jumps too early, spends mobility on low-value poke, or commits before the enemy crowd control has been baited out.
