When to Counter Gwen
Pick Gwen when the enemy team relies on tanks or bruisers that cannot easily escape a scaling melee damage dealer once she reaches them. She fits drafts that want a solo lane threat capable of side pressure without becoming useless in later teamfights. Gwen also makes sense when the opposing composition lacks repeated hard lockdown to punish her forward positioning.
How to Counter Gwen Strategy
Do not let Gwen settle into long, uninterrupted duels where she can cycle damage and stay protected in her own preferred space. Break contact after her strongest melee windows and attack from outside the ranges where she wants to stick and extend the trade. In teamfights, forcing her to choose between hitting the front line and actually reaching carries lowers her overall value.
