Fizz Champion Overview and Assassin Guide
Understand Fizz's assassin playstyle, when his burst and roams fit a draft, and what wave control and lockdown keep him contained.

Fizz Counter Strategy & Strategy (Patch 16.11)
When to Counter Fizz
Pick Fizz when the enemy team has fragile backliners, limited point-and-click lockdown, and side lanes that can be attacked once he leaves mid. He thrives in drafts that want a mid laner to convert one catch into instant kill pressure rather than sustained front-to-back damage. Fizz also makes sense when your team already has some waveclear and engage elsewhere, allowing him to focus on assassination and roams.
How to Counter Fizz Strategy
Shove waves early and keep Fizz occupied under tower so he spends more time collecting lane than threatening side-map kills. Hold reliable crowd control for after his evasive spell is used, because premature answers often let him slip past the real punishment window. In teamfights, standing near peel and avoiding isolated movement removes many of the openings he needs.
Fizz Targeted Build Strategy
Knowing Fizz's ideal items helps you build optimal counters.
Fizz Key Weaknesses
Fizz is melee in lane and depends on commit windows, so early range pressure and lost wave control can make his first levels uncomfortable. He also offers very little when he cannot quickly reach or burst a vulnerable target, especially in organized front-to-back fights.
Worst Matchups for Fizz
Galio, Lissandra, Kassadin, Malzahar, and Pantheon consistently make Fizz's game harder by surviving his engage or answering with direct control once he commits. These matchups deny the slippery burst pattern that usually lets him take over side skirmishes.
Best Champions Against Fizz
Elise, Lee Sin, Jarvan IV, Nocturne, and Pyke pair well with Fizz because they create fast collapses and help punish targets the moment he threatens them. Their follow-up makes his roams and burst windows much more reliable.
Fizz Counter Tips & Summary
Fizz is a slippery AP assassin who punishes squishy targets through sudden all-ins, evasive movement, and strong midgame side pressure. He offers lethal burst and excellent backline access, but his lane can be controlled by range and his value falls when enemies deny isolated carries.
